About Setsubun

Setsubun is the turning point from winter to spring, and a ceremony is held to welcome the New Year and pray for good luck and protection from disaster.

At Sumiyoshi Taisha in Osaka, the Tsuina Hoshashiki Ceremony is held by the members of the Ogasawara Kyojo.

Tsuina is a ceremony to drive away evil spirits, and the 'Tsuina Hoshashiki', in which a bow is drawn at a large target (Omato) that is made as an ogre, is performed in front of many spectators.

Why not take this opportunity to visit the Sumiyoshi Taisha Setsubun Festival?
